TANZICT premises were full of laughter spiced with a few tears during the last day of FEMTANZ training at the end of February.
After pitching their businesses to an industrial panel, nine women entrepreneurs received their certificates of participation from the first FEMTANZ course. Pitches are available on our YouTube channel.
“A cup of coffee I had with Kristiina a year ago became this”, said Catherinerose Barretto, one of the three new certified FEMTANZ trainers.
“This course was unique, because it meant case studies with our own businesses to get solutions from ourselves”, crystalised Rose Romanus from Tusajigwe Grains & Food Supplies.
Understanding cash flows was also important, she said. “Now when the cash flow ends up with negative balance I know what to do. Before, I used to panic.”
The group included experienced entrepreneurs, a few who are just starting, and everything in between. Their businesses are in agriculture, food processing, textile manufacturing, consulting and retail, to name a few.
The graduation ceremony was attended by Sinikka Antila, Ambassador of Finland. She hopes that the certified trainers and entrepreneurs will share the knowledge their have gained with other women.
“Women have an enormous potential to make the change and create jobs”, she pointed out.
The Director General of Costech, Dr. Hassan Mshinda was happy that the ambassador highlighted TANZICT as the flagship of Finnish-Tanzanian cooperation. “It is now starting to spread like a bushfire, and it is good to see that the resources we are spending on this program have now started to bring benefits”.
